Key Responsibilities

As Finance Director, Alex is responsible for all financial matters relating to the Boughey organisation. He leads a strong finance team who cover financial planning and analysis, and accounting activities, as well as supporting the business deliver positive financial results.

As part of his role, Alex also reports on Boughey’s financial performance into the NWF Group’s Board of Directors.

Career Background

Alex joined Boughey as Finance Director in 2022 following a long career in the logistics industry. He began with Wincanton PLC as an Assistant Accountant in their foodservice business before progressing to the role of Finance Manager supporting a number of the company’s largest contracts.

Following ten years with Wincanton, Alex moved to US firm XPO Logistics Inc, initially as a Finance Business Partner before stepping up to become the Head of Finance of one of their UK Business Units. He went on to hold this position for two other XPO Business Units before moving to the newly created GXO Logistics Inc as part of the company’s spin-off from XPO in 2021.

Alex is a CIMA qualified Accountant and is currently studying for an Executive MBA at the University of Manchester’s Alliance Business School.

Away from work

Alex is a big fan of Wigan Athletic; he’s part of three generations of season ticket holders along with his young son and his dad.
