Tell us about your current role: I joined the company straight after school at the age of 16 and I’m still here 16 years later! I left school in May 2005 and started work in August the same year on an agency contract handballing in the warehouse. After two years, when I was 18, I was taken on as a full-time employee by the company and continued handballing, and later picking stock which I did for a further eight years.
Six years ago, I took my reach truck and counterbalance qualifications to expand my role. I work Monday to Friday working on a 6.00am – 2.00pm/2.00pm – 10.00pm rotating shift basis.
It’s something of a family takeover as both my Dad and brother have worked here for 18 years and 20 years respectively – that’s over 50 years’ service between us!
What do you like most about working here? The 6.00am – 2.00pm/2.00pm – 10.00pm shift pattern works perfectly for me. I have three young children and the flexible shifts mean that I can pick them up and collect them from school on alternate weeks.
The people I work with are great and so are the managers. They will always listen to you and provide support if there are any challenges.
