Tell us about your role: After achieving my BSc (Hons) degree, I decided to pursue a career in computing and joined the company as a Graduate Software Developer. Within the evolving and fast-paced logistics industry, developing and maintaining robust IT systems is essential, incorporating warehousing, transportation, finance and many other areas.
A key part of my role includes the design, development and testing of applications within SAP – our ERP system used to integrate different areas of the business. As part of my day-to-day responsibilities, I participate in key Boughey projects, for example, providing expertise for technical processes involving our new warehouse based in Crewe.
From a customer perspective, I design bespoke reports for customers on request, such as stock reporting and analytics, and recently completed a year-long secondment within our team to support customer EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) to facilitate online communication, order processing and stock control.
I am also part of an on-call out-of-hours IT support service for the company, which is organised on a rota-basis.
What do you like most about working here? I enjoy working as part of a small team who work well together and are willing to help each other out – each member brings a unique and valued skillset. My role is extremely varied too with many opportunities to be involved in different projects.
