Wardle’s own radio star, Seamus

Many colleagues will know Seamus Burden, better known as Spike, from our Wardle site. What some may not know is that when he is not at work, he is also behind the microphone hosting his own radio show.

Spike is currently on his third stint with the business, having first worked in the Packing Room back in 1989, then in Warehouse 2 on the Princes contract in 1999, before returning with GHT in February 2024.

Spike’s radio journey began as a commentator for Stock Car and Banger Racing at the old Stoke Speedway, which many will now recognise as the location of our Lymedale site. He went on to commentate at tracks including Coventry, Sheffield, Buxton and Belle Vue in Manchester. From there, he was invited to become a regular pundit on a weekly show with StoxRadio. After a few months, Spike received an unexpected message on Facebook from Edd Keeley, who had been listening and asked if Spike would like to host his own show on A1Radio.co.uk.
