The company has been shortlisted for a UK Warehouse Association (UKWA) national award in recognition of its drive to help the environment.
UKWA’s Annual Awards recognise the extraordinary achievements of individuals and companies operating in the logistics industry, and Boughey has been shortlisted in the Excellence in Sustainability category. Winners will be announced at a lunch being held on Tuesday 27th June at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.
The company has become a force for change with brand new initiatives that its ESG team have put in place to protect the environment, colleagues and the planet. The most significant being its net zero target by 2040.
Managing Director, Angela Carus’ team has instigated a robust ESG strategy which, in the last year, has been further enhanced and structured following the decision to apply for B Corp Certification. Boughey believes it is one of the first companies within the transport and distribution industry to set out on a B Corp journey.
To measure progression and track its targets, five areas will be used to ensure a balance between Customers, Employees, Community, Governance, and Environment.
Since arriving with us 18 months ago, one of Angela Carus’ primary focus is to propel the business forwards in its ESG programme. Commenting on this she said, “We have a fantastic team at Boughey that drive us forward, helping us become a more sustainable business. The work that we put in now will take us to where we need to be and provide us with a strong foundation to keep working on reducing our carbon footprint.
“At Boughey we want to be storing and transporting food in a way that’s good for our customers, people, our community and the planet. Recently we have been vocal about setting out on our B Corp journey, which for us is a promise to everyone our business touches, that we will keep striving for a better, greener future.”
