Mental Health Awareness Week – Day 1

Breathing Boughey Distribution

We’re starting the week by slowing things down. Whether you’re behind the wheel, on your feet, or at your desk, breathing exercises can help lower stress, improve focus, and reset your mindset in just a minute or two.
Look out for posters and screen displays around site with easy-to-follow breathing techniques you can try anytime, anywhere.

Breathing exercises reduce stress by influencing the nervous system and promoting a relaxation response. Specifically, deep, slow breathing can help regulate the body’s stress response, reduce heart rate and blood pressure and lower stress hormones, ultimately calming the body and mind.

What Breathing Exercises you could try.

- Inhale deeply through your nose, counting up to 5.
- Exhale slowly through your mouth, counting back down to 1.
- Repeat this pattern several times, focusing on the counting and the sensation of your breath.
- Inhale through your nose for four seconds.
- Hold your breath for seven seconds.
- Exhale through your mouth for eight seconds.
- Repeat this pattern several times.
