Join Team Boughey as a HGV Class 1 Driver

The role will be based out of our Lymedale site and will involve the delivery and collection to Company’s, private addresses in the Cheshire and surrounding area. The role will be predominately day work with some occasional extra hours. The role will involve class 1 vehicle driving on a daily basis, predominantly lone working, however, you will work closely with others at certain times of the day when unloading and being allocated work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete vehicle checks at the start and end of each shift.
  • Ensure safe and prompt delivery of goods across the Cheshire and surrounding areas, carrying out multi-drop deliveries to Company’s and private addresses.
  • Comply with all HGV driving rules and regulations as well as Company policies and procedures.
  • Drive the vehicle safely and in accordance with the law/tachograph law and driver hour limits. Reporting defects, accidents and violations as soon as possible and in compliance with the Company’s accident reporting procedure.
  • Manoeuvring trucks into loading or unloading positions.
  • Making sure loads are safely secured.
  • Handle Customer issues on delivery effectively with a smile and a high level of customer service.
  • Looking after the vehicle and ensuring that it is not subjected to unnecessary damage.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the cab at all times.
  • Provide support in the yard as and when required – this may include Class 2 rigid trucks.
  • May be required to handball and/or pump truck delivery at certain delivery locations.
  • Use of curtainsider vehicles.
  • To abide by all Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Support and deliver on the Company mission and vision whilst living and promoting the Company values.
  • Liaise with relevant internal stakeholders to maintain the highest standards with due regard to Customer requirements and in line with HARA, BRCGS and any other internal or external legislation/audits.
  • To be aware of and adhere to the Company’s Health & Safety Policy. You will challenge poor and promote good Health Safety Environmental practices by taking responsibility for the Health, Safety, environmental and welfare of yourself.

What we are looking for:

  • A full Class 1 Drivers’ licence (CE Licence)
  • A CPC and Digi Tachograph card.
  • Relevant experience working in a similar role (preferable 2 years experience in driving a Class 1 vehicle)
  • The ability to use own initiative.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

What we offer:

4 on 4 off, day shift (42 hours per week):

  • £15.37 per hour
  • 23.5 days holiday per year

OR

Any 5 from 7, day shift (40 hours per week):

  • Monday to Friday – £13.63 per hour
  • Saturday – £17.03 per hour
  • Sundays – £20.44 per hour
  • 33 days holiday per year

Tramping roles are available on both of the above shift patterns with an additional £26.20 for each night out.
