Join Team Boughey as a Health and Safety Coordinator

We are currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Coordinator for our Health and Safety team, based at Wardle, Nantwich.

This role exists to support Boughey Distribution in striving for health and safety excellence, and delivering the overall company strategy.
Ensuring that both operational and human performance is optimised; by contributing to a strong workplace culture that holds health and safety at the core, contributing to maintaining a robust health and safety management system, analysis of data and trends, and co-ordination of the health and safety function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to a strong workplace culture, that holds health and safety at the core, through delivery of the health and safety objectives, and delivery of the Safer Together campaign.
  • Analysing accident and incident data to identify trends to be monitored and actioned.
  • Producing regular H&S reports in a digestible manner for colleagues at all levels of the hierarchy.
  • Supporting with accident and incident evidence gathering, including but not limited to: training records, CCTV requests, fleet management data etc.
  • Develop and roll out of health and safety communications in line with the wider H&S team, including health and safety alerts, health and safety initiatives etc.
  • Manage the document control of the health and safety management system, including overseeing all management of change activities.
  • Champion EVOTIX through contribution to the development and maintenance of the system, to ensure that the value of the software is fully appreciated
  • Monitoring of key health and safety tracking functions on EVOTIX including: hazard reporting module, accident and incident module, asset module, task manager.
  • Manager and development of the H&S share point facility, to ensure all colleagues have access to key elements of the H&S management system, and that processes are streamlined.
  • Management of the health and safety governance structure, ensuring that meeting attendees, minutes, agendas and actions are on track at all times.
  • Supporting the wider H&S team and operational teams on projects and action close out.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments to ensure a holistic approach to compliance, risk management and company strategy is achieved, including but not limited to: HR, QC & ESG, Facilities, Training etc.
  • Support and deliver on the Company mission, vision and live and promote the Company values.
  • Liaise with relevant internal stakeholders to maintain the highest standards with due regard to Customer requirements and in line with HARA, BRCGS and any other internal or external legislation/audits.
  • To be aware of and adhere to the Company’s Health & Safety Policy. You will challenge poor and promote good Health Safety Environmental practices by taking responsibility for the Health, Safety, environmental and welfare of yourself.

What we are looking for:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Preferably experienced within a logistics or warehousing work setting.
  • Experience in data analysis and competent in basic software systems use.
  • Ability to present complex information, data and legislation in a form that is appealing and understandable for all levels of the hierarchy.
  • Excellent PC skills and conversant with all Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Enthusiastic and motivational people management and communication skills.
  • Initiative-taking with an eye for problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to be self-driven and highly motivated.
  • Needs to have good relationships with warehouse and transport management, employees, as well as any other required department in a cross functional perspective.
  • Strong co-ordination and planning skills.
  • Highly organized and methodical – process orientated with an eye for detail.
  • Strong analytical, influencing and communication skills.
  • Time management skills, the ability to prioritise workload as well as multi task and work to tight deadlines.
  • The ability to work in a fast paced setting towards ambitious goals.

What we offer:

  • Location: Wardle Position – Nantwich Road, Wardle, Nantwich, Cheshire, CW5 6RS.
  • Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm (37.5 hours per week).
  • Rate of Pay: £24,000 to £27,000 (DoE) per annum – paid monthly.
