Our Finance Director, Alex Hall, has been awarded an MBA (Master of Business Administration) by the Alliance Manchester Business School at the University of Manchester.
The globally-recognised master’s degree aims to equip those looking to take on senior leadership roles with advanced skills and knowledge in all areas of business and management.
After completing the two-year programme, Alex gained a distinction grade, the highest possible. Modules of study included Leading & Managing in a Global Environment, Strategic Commercial Management and Strategic Financial Analysis.
Alex joined us as Finance Director in March 2022 and has an impressive 18-year track-record of financial expertise and experience within the logistics industry. He leads the company’s finance team responsible for financial planning and analysis, and accounting activities, as well as supporting the business deliver positive financial results. He also reports on financial performance into the NWF Group’s Board of Directors, our parent company.
Commenting on attaining the MBA, Alex said, “It was a real privilege to study at the Alliance Manchester Business School and to have access to so much knowledge and expertise. We gain so much experience and know-how by being in the workplace which is vital, but combining this with academic study to gain different insights and perspectives has been a great experience.
“One of the most significant things was having the opportunity to spend time with, and work alongside, people from other industries and other countries. During the programme, I’ve worked on assignments with people from dozens of countries across five continents.
“I’m very grateful for the support I’ve received from the company, both in helping with my tuition fees and providing study leave.”
Managing Director Angela Carus commented, “I’d like to offer my huge congratulations to Alex on his achievement and also gaining the top grade. It’s never easy to take on high-level studies at the same time as carrying out a full-time senior role, but Alex accomplished this seamlessly.

Alex is the second of our Directors to gain an MBA. Warehouse Operations Director, Danny Earp, was awarded an MBA in 2020 by Cranfield School of Management.
