Thomas Hardie, our HGV provider, recently staged ‘Draw it for Derian’, a competition to raise much-needed funds for Derian House Children’s Hospice in Chorley.
The competition saw children from across the region draw their Happy Birthday-styled artwork to celebrate Derian House’s 30th year as a hospice. The winning design, created by 11-year-old Ellie Biggs, was emblazoned on a new Volvo truck and will be travelling around the country raising money.
In support of Thomas Hardie and Derian House, we added the Volvo branded truck to our fleet for the last two weeks in April, donating £1 for every mile travelled during that time and we managed to raise a whopping £4,500 for the charity.
Transport Operations Director, Neil Trotter and Paul Brimelow, our Group Fleet Engineer for Boughey Distribution Ltd joined Steve Wilson, Thomas Hardie’s New Vehicle Sales & Marketing Director and Mick Croskery, Fundraising Manager at Derian House Children’s Hospice to officially hand-over our donation.
Neil said, “We were very happy to have the charity truck with us and to be able to contribute towards an amazing cause. The campaign is an excellent example of why we’re proud to be associated with Thomas Hardie and we’re incredibly happy we can play our part in the fundraising.”
